The Sturgeon Heights Electrical Trades program teaches and prepares students for life after high school, no matter what their path may be. Students can get direct entry into Electrical Apprenticeship, Electrical Distribution Warehouses, or further their training with post secondary schooling at university, trades colleges, public utilities or even to become a qualified handy person as a proud home owner.

Grade 10 (1 Credit) El- 20S Introduction to Electrical Trades Technology
The grade 10 program introduces students to the basic concepts of electrical safety, hand and power tool safety, residential electrical circuit design, terminology, and fabrication. Basic Electronics will be covered to help understand circuits. Students will learn the related formulas, code rules, and work with test equipment and meters.

Grade 11 (3 Credits) EL 30S A,B.C Electrical Trades D.C. Fundamentals, Residential Wiring, Electrical Wiring Methods
Concepts learned in the Grade 10 with be reviewed to form new building blocks to advance residential wiring skills. Students with learn schematic and wiring diagrams to help them design and build circuits to help them with blue print reading. More types of industry tools, different types of wires, and boxes will be introduced to complete advanced projects.

Grade 12 (4 Credits) EL 40S A,B,C,D Advanced Residential Wiring, Electrical Trades A.C. Fundamentals, Advanced Electrical Wiring Methods, Applied Electrical Trades Technology
In the final year of the program students continue to develop their skills at an advanced level for the electrical trade, Canadian Electrical Code, related tools, and electrical test equipment. New concepts taught will cover A.C. theory, commercial wiring practices, conduit bending, alternative energy sources, microprocessors and advanced electronics for the electrician Students will learn all the necessary job requirements prior to entering the electrical industry in a field of their choice.
